YOUTH MINISTER HOLDS FIRST SECTORAL LEADERSHIP MEETING

In a momentous event that marked the beginning of a new era for the youth sector, Youth Minister Mohamed Orman Bangura presided over the first youth sectoral leadership meeting for 2024. This gathering brought together key figures in the government, including the Youth Affairs, Patrick Michaelson Gibrilla, the National Youth Commissioner, Ahmed Atata Mansaray, the Presidential Youth Adviser Desmond Pessima, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, and other senior officials.

During the meeting, the Youth Minister took the opportunity to outline his strategic leadership and direction for the youth sector's development. He emphasized placing the constituents at the center of all initiatives, focusing on empowerment, employability, skills development, and employment. The minister's vision for the youth sector was inspiring and motivated all in attendance to actively engage in devising collaborative initiatives.


The Presidential Adviser on Youth Affairs Desmond Pessima

The Presidential Adviser on Youth Affairs, who also doubles as Chairman for the Sierra Leone People’s Party North America ( SLPNA) Chairman Desmond Pessima, expressed gratitude to the team of Moya for their commitment to promoting President Bio’s vision for youth empowerment. He encouraged the leadership of Moya, the Youth Commission, and the youth services to prioritize jobs for youth across the country. He mentioned key issues to the team, including mapping deliverables for youth job creation. He emphasized progressive collaboration within the youth sectors, including public and private so that the youth would have the appropriate tools for jobs. He assured the team that he would work closely with them to achieve President Bio's vision. He also assured the team his indelible support for realizing President Bio’s vision of job 500,000 creation for youth nationwide.

The Presidential Youth Adviser, known for his expertise in youth affairs, made other valuable insights and recommendations during the meeting. His statement emphasized the significance of providing opportunities for the youth to thrive and succeed in various fields.

The Deputy Minister of Youth also made a statement, expressing his commitment to supporting the youth agenda. He highlighted the need for comprehensive and inclusive strategies that address the diverse needs of young people nationwide.

The National Youth Commissioner echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of wide consultations to ensure that the voices of the youth are heard and their concerns are addressed. He stressed the need for a collaborative approach involving all stakeholders in decision-making.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth also made a statement, affirming their commitment to supporting the minister's vision. He highlighted the ministry’s role in implementing policies and programs that promote the well-being and development of young people.
