UNITY WOMEN'S GROUP VISITS KENEMA CITY MAYOR

BY: ABDUL MARTINS FODAY AMARA.

A female-led agribusiness organization, Unity Women Agribusiness Enterprise Women’s Group, has visited and presented assorted vegetables and other food items to his worship mayor, Thomas Karim Baio, as their year's gift in appreciation of his support to women's organizations in Kenema City.

In her presentation statement, the chair of the Unity Agribusiness Enterprise women’s group, Aminata Mansaray, commended Mayor Baio for supporting women in realizing their dreams.

She stated that their group had been mainly focused on producing and marketing assorted vegetable products over the years with self-help fundraising activities to support their agricultural venture.

Madam Aminata informed that her organization recognizes Mayor Baio’s efforts to support women, and their visit was to strengthen and showcase their involvement in small-scale agricultural activities within the municipality of Kenema. "You're serving as a father figure for our organization and everyone else within the city. You've supported us over the years in actualizing our dreams. Our organization wouldn't have gone through this without your immense support. For this reason, we are here today to tell you how grateful we are for being this kind to us. Please accept this little gift from us and continue with what you have been doing over the years", she pleaded.

Zainab Fatorma, the organizing secretary, re-echoed her organization’s commitment to supporting President Bio’s Feed Salone initiative. She assured the mayor that they are always prepared to implement whatever dream the president of this country fully has for the nation.

Upon receiving the gift, Mayor Thomas Baio expressed gratitude to the organization for considering him as one of the beneficiaries of their agricultural products.

He said President Bio’s feed, Salone, needs collective participation, and women championing it is a significant milestone.

He expressed the belief that the ideology of women leading in the kitchen is a thing of the past, and with support, women will positively surprise the world.

He urged other organizations to emulate the example set by the Unity Women Agribusiness Enterprises Women's Group by fully engaging in various agricultural activities so that there can be enough food for the people of this country. Concluding with the saying, "Agriculture is the backbone of every country.”
