TSC DEPUTY DIRECTOR ANNOUNCES OVER 800 SCHOOLS & 4000 TEACHERS IN KONO DISTRICT

According to the Deputy Director of Teaching Service Commission (TSC) Kono, Max Fallah Sengu, over 800 schools ranging from Pre-primary, Junior, and Senior Secondary schools are in Kono District and  4000 government pin-coded Teachers in Kono District.

He said that looking at the growing number of schools in the district and comparing the teachers on payroll,  is one of the challenges they are faced with as commission.  He added that they are far behind in terms of teachers’ issues. For Community Teachers, he said they are the major auxiliary to aid the schools noting that, without the community, it would be difficult for  Teachers to teach in the schools.

"We have more Community Teachers than government pin-coded Teachers in our schools," he said.

Deputy Director of Teaching Service Commission (TSC) Kono District Kono, Max Fallah Sengu,  made it known that the major challenges the commission faces with Community teachers in the schools are untrained and qualified teachers.

Deputy Director of TSC Kono Max Fallah Sengu highlighted some of the achievements made in teaching through the ministry Of MBSSE.

" Since I took office in the last four years when the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) was established they have done extremely well in the area of teachers’ requirements, reassessment, and promotion for teachers countrywide," he said.

He disclosed that in 2018 government of Sierra Leone through the MBSSE required 5000 teachers nationwide and Kono District was fortunate to benefit from 700 teachers.

He further stated that in 2021,  the commission through the MBSSE required 1000 teachers, and 93 teachers were allocated to Kono District.

He maintained that in 2022 Government of Sierra Leone through TSC also required 1000 and 46 teachers to be allocated to Kono District.

 "The government has allocated 1000 teachers requirements for 2024. I cannot tell you what Kono stands to benefit from that coater",  he explained.

Max Fallah Sengu further explained that recently the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) has completed the replacement for 48 teachers in Kono District and assured that come next year 2024, they would be approved by the Government of Sierra Leone.

He called on the teachers to always visit the commission’s office for vital information and called on the teacher to continue their good work for the betterment of the district and the country.
