PUJEHUN GRMC TRAINS EDUCATION STAKEHOLDERS ON EFFECTIVE REPORTING

 The Pujehun District Grievance Redress Mechanism Committee (GRMC) on Saturday, 13 January 2024,  organized a comprehensive training program to educate education stakeholders on effective reporting.

 The engagement, held at various locations within the district, attracted diverse participants, including Head Teachers, School Management Committee Members, Community Teachers Associations, People Living with Disabilities, Religious Leaders, and others.

Addressing the attendees, the Secretary of the Pujehun District GRM Committee, Ibrahim Bogiwa Swaray, highlighted the importance of the Free Quality Education Project initiated by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education. The project aims to train participants in reporting grievances to the GRM Committee regarding the rehabilitation, refurbishment, and construction of schools and other government-led development projects in the district.

Mr. Swaray intimated that the committee comprises 23 GRM members from different institutions, actively working to ensure the successful implementation of all projects under the Free Quality Education initiative.

 He urged all participants to act as vigilant watchdogs in monitoring the progress of the projects and to report any issues or concerns to the committee.

Madam Amie Kemokai, Chairlady of Persons with Disability in Pujehun, delivered an important message during the training program. She called for including provisions for all categories of disabled individuals, particularly in providing them with ramps for easy building accessibility.

 She emphasized the need for proactive monitoring by all stakeholders to ensure that project contractors fulfill their responsibilities.

During the training, the District Coordinator of the Office of National Security in Pujehun, Festus Gbanie, conducted a two-hour lecture on the various categories of complaints the GRM Committee must address. This lecture provided valuable insights to the participants, enabling them to identify and report grievances effectively.

The training program was a significant step towards fostering transparency, accountability, and community engagement in implementing education and development projects within the Pujehun District. It is hoped that the knowledge and skills gained by the participants will empower them to actively contribute to the ongoing efforts of improving the quality of education and infrastructure in the district.

The Pujehun District GRM Committee expressed its commitment to providing a robust mechanism for receiving and addressing grievances promptly and fairly. They encouraged all education stakeholders to utilize the committee's services and work together to successfully implement the Free Quality Education Project and other government-led development initiatives in the district.

On his part, the Chairman of the  School management committee, Mohamed A Vandi of SLIM Primary School Gbondapi, expressed their appreciation for the initiative and pledged their dedication to actively monitor and report any issues that may hinder the progress of education projects in Pujehun District.
