PUJEHUN DISTRICT PHARMACIST WARNS AGAINST DRUG PEDDLING

The Pujehun District Pharmacist, pharm Algasemu has issued a stern warning to drug peddlers operating within the district, urging them to cease selling and administering treatment to individuals in their respective chiefdoms.

Mr.  Algasemu strongly condemned the actions of these individuals, emphasizing their lack of knowledge and expertise in dealing with drug-related issues.

In a statement addressing the issue, the district pharmacist expressed deep concern over the activities of drug peddlers who, without proper qualifications or training, have been providing medications and treatments to unsuspecting individuals.

Pharm Gassimu emphasized that these individuals lack the necessary understanding of proper dosages, potential drug interactions, and other critical factors required for safe and effective healthcare delivery.

He warned against illegal drug sellers against impersonating staff members of the District Health Management Team or the district drug store.

He highlighted that such behavior is not only illegal but also undermines the trust and integrity of the healthcare system. He stressed that only authorized individuals with appropriate qualifications and certifications should be involved in the sale and distribution of pharmaceuticals within the district.

The pharmacist urged residents of Pujehun District to be cautious and vigilant when seeking medical treatment or purchasing medications.

He emphasized the importance of obtaining drugs from licensed pharmacies and healthcare facilities to ensure the safety and efficacy of the treatments received.

 He however reiterated the commitment of the District  Health Management Team authorities to provide quality healthcare services to the community. He urged residents to report any suspicious activities or individuals involved in the unauthorized sale or administration of drugs to the appropriate authorities promptly.

 Pham Gassimu assured that  Collaborative measures would be implemented to enhance regulatory mechanisms and increase public awareness regarding proper drug procurement and usage.

As part of these efforts, he added will be working closely with law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders to identify and apprehend those involved in the illegal drug trade.

 Public education campaigns will be launched to raise awareness about the risks associated with purchasing medications from unauthorized sources.
