PUJEHUN COUNCIL CHAIRMAN ENGAGES BORDER SECURITY OFFICERS TO HEIGHTEN LAND BORDER SURVEILLANCE

In response to the recent attempted coup on November 26th, Chairman of the Pujehun District Council Foday Kandeh Rogers,  has taken proactive measures to strengthen the security of the district's land borders.

Chairman Rogers expressed concerns regarding the effectiveness of the current checkpoint operations and emphasized the need for thorough and unbiased inspections of vehicles passing through.

During a meeting attended by key stakeholders and local authorities, at Jendeh town Mano River division,  Chairman Rogers highlighted the urgency to address the security gaps that allowed the unfortunate incident to occur.

 He stressed the importance of maintaining a watertight security framework to safeguard the district's stability and protect its residents.

Chairman Rogers emphasized the importance of community involvement and encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.

Augustine Jah Zoker, the Chiefdom Speaker of Sorogbema Chiefdom, assured attendees that the chiefdom authorities were actively working to alleviate the current security situation, and Specific measures and strategies were put in place to reinforce security protocols and ensure the safety of the district's inhabitants.

The Local Unit Commander of the Mano River Division, Chief Superintendent of Police P.A Kpangay in his address, reported that continuous monitoring efforts were underway to tackle the security challenges.

He mentioned that door-to-door checks were being conducted to identify any suspicious activities and promptly respond to them.

LUC Kpangay assured the public that the security forces were fully committed to resolving the situation and maintaining law and order within the district.

Commanding Officer Major Yusuf Kamara of the Mano River Division, reiterated their mandate to provide external security and affirmed that they were actively addressing the prevailing security concerns in the District.

Major Kamara specifically noted that the unusual movement of nationals and foreign nationals within the district is further probed into. He emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and enhanced border control measures. Meanwhile, at the end of the meeting members present visit the various crossing points.
