PRA EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN IMPRESSED WITH DEPUTY’S 30 DAYS IN OFFICE

By Mohamed M. Sesay

The reverend and renowned gospel singer and one of the most dedicated and recognized evangelists in Sierra Leone, Mr. Alfred M Kobba was recently appointed by His Excellency President Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio as the unprecedented Deputy Executive Chairman of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency ( PRA).

The timely appointment of the Deputy Executive Chairman was to help the current leadership and management to transform the Downstream Petroleum Sector to meet the demands of a new age.  The Downstream Petroleum Sector has been one of the most critical components in the governance sector in Sierra Leone in terms of revenue generation and effective service delivery to the public.

Acting genuinely and quickly on the appointment of President Bio and taking into consideration the aforesaid appointment doesn’t require parliamentary scrutiny,  the Executive Chairman of Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA) , Mr. Brima Baluwa Koroma, a trailblazer and trendsetter graciously and magnanimously gave an open hand for his deputy to start operations two days after his official appointment letter from State House.

That kind of warm welcome by Mr.Brima Baluwa Koroma was widely acclaimed by Sierra Leoneans it seldom happens in Sierra Leone when deputies are being appointed by presidents for them to be given open hands and a befitting welcome by their immediate bosses. It was a clear testament that the current Executive Chairman of PRA is poised wholeheartedly to work with Mr. Alfred M Kobba to help actualize the visions and aspirations of President Bio in transforming the Petroleum Regulatory Agency in Sierra Leone.

Mr. Alfred M Kobba in his capacity as Deputy Head of PRA,  does not only to that sensitive sector with a plethora of working experiences in the area of management, accounting, professionalism, disciplines, and leadership dexterities; but he came along with humility and meekness in order to firmly support his direct leadership who has evolved the Agency by making it very enviable and admirable institution in the country. The Deputy Executive Chairman has a long journey to achieve President Bio’s Five Game Changers that will cushion the prevailing economic downturn Sierra Leone experiences.

On his first day at work, the Deputy Executive Chairman was first introduced to the management and staff of the Agency at the Headquarters in Freetown. To familiarize with the regional management and staff, the Executive Chairman for PRA also encouraged his deputy to take a regional tour and familiarize himself with the management and staff in the North, South, and Eastern Regions respectively. The Deputy Executive Chairman (DEC) was overwhelmingly received with huge excitement and joy. He demonstrated an outstanding leadership style to regional management and staff and urged them to brace up and work tremendously and in the best interest of the country.

Just after concluding the regional tour, the Deputy Executive Chairman was kindly asked by his boss to lead a high-level delegation at the Sierra Rutile Company on a very significant move on behalf of the Agency. He successfully led the team and reported accordingly to the management on the outcomes of their visit.  His tantalizing reports and feedback gave euphoric gratification to his boss and the entire management.

Fast forward from there, the Executive Chairman for PRA took his deputy and other staff to inspect ongoing construction depot storage facilities at Kissy and Cline Town Terminal. It was a maiden terminal visit for the deputy.  The Deputy Executive Chairman for PRA recently held a very strategic familiarization meeting with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and their managements at the headquarters of NP Sierra Leone Limited and the  Sierra Leone Petrol Jetty. He commended them for their extraordinary efforts and commitment towards the success of the Downstream Petroleum Sector.
