Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority has clarified on the alleged discrimination against a Sierra Leonean passenger who was believed to have been denied boarding on SN Brussels flight on the basis that Sierra Leonean passport holders are not allowed to transit at Brussels Airport.
The Management of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) made the foregoing revelation through a Press Release issued on Monday the thereby, affirming that it has contacted the Management of SN Brussels on the said information. SN Brussels, according to SLCAA, responded that “There is no restriction on Sierra Leonean passport holders to transit in Brussels.”
The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) further informed the public that they had contacted the passenger in order to get more information regarding the alleged discrimination and that they would further investigate the matter accordingly.
SLCAA according to the Press Statement concluded that the Management will continue to inform the public on the outcome of the said investigation, stressing that the object of the Authority is to promote the safety, security efficiency of civil aviation in Sierra Leone by licensing and regulating civil aviation in accordance with the obligations of Sierra Leone under the Chicago Convention and other applicable international agreements.
