According to the District Commanding Officer of the National Fire Force (NFF) in Kono District, Donald Nicol, they have officially recorded 16 fire incidents within the municipality of Koidu in 2023.
Giving the statistics for fire incidents in Kono District, the Commanding officer of the National Fire Force in Kono, Donald Nicol, disclosed that they recorded 26 fire incidents, particularly in Koidu municipality, for the 2022 report.
He maintained that for the 2023 report, they recorded 16 fire incidents for Kono District; this report shows that the number of fire incidents for Kono District is decreasing compared to previous years.
The District Officer of the National Fire Force (NFF) in Kono District, Donald Nicol, further stated that some of their findings relating to fire incidents in the district cannot be unconnected with the carelessness of some individuals using electrical appliances.
" I will tell you, many people are in the habit of leaving their electrical appliances on while they are away, which sometimes results in major fire incidents," he noted.
Donald Nicol, the District Commanding officer of NFF Kono District, pointed out that they plan to embark on mass fire prevention measures campaigns, particularly in the schools and public places, to combat the fire incidents in the district, especially with the city of Koidu.
He urged the public to fully support the District National Fire Force in providing accurate and timely information on fire incidents and the careful use of electrical appliances at homes, in offices, and business places to prevent future fire incidents in the district.
