MINISTER OF TOURISM UNVEILS PLANS TO ENHANCE TOURISM SECTOR GROWTH IN 2024

The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis, on Saturday, the 13th of January 2024, emphasized her Ministry’s preparedness to boost the tourism sector in the country and consequently highlighted plans that the Ministry has set aside for this year.

She maintained that her ministry is trying to do everything to make the sector very attractive to tourists all over the world, which may, in turn, be a good investment for the country, adding that meeting with investors recently in Freetown has shown the readiness these investors have to invest into the tourism sector.

She added that they plan to create jobs for Sierra Leoneans as part of President Bio’s plans of creating 500,000 jobs, adding that they have the potential to support the government in getting jobs for Sierra Leoneans and that they are well prepared to work with diverse investors to boost the sector.

Speaking on the expectations, she maintained that they expect to see more partnerships that would be vital in promoting the ministry's goals.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs is currently implementing a tourism for all campaign, and it is a yearlong campaign whereby we are seeking to wrap up the awareness about tourism, the potential tourism has to contribute to the national development of the country” she stressed, adding that they are working with diverse partners including the private sector to make sure that the rollout is successful.

She called on Sierra Leoneans to be part of the awareness raising and get the sector moving in the right direction so that everyone could make a meaningful contribution to developing the land that we all love, Sierra Leone.
