A mason who identifies himself as Bai Turay yesterday made another appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court no. 1 for stealing over one million new Leones from a Chinese national Gouan Zhao.
Accused Turay was arraigned before the court on three count charges of Larceny in dwelling house and house breaking and larceny contrary to section 26(i) of the larceny act of 1916.
Police alleged that the accused on Thursday 13 July, 2023 at Kissy Road in Freetown with intent to steal, break and enter into the bedroom of Gouan Zhao and stole the sum of one million, two hundred and twenty nine thousand new Leones.
The accused was present in court but the prosecutor inspector Sellu Tap sought for an adjournment that the witnesses were not present in court. The accused is on bail and the matter was adjourned to the 28 December 2023 for further hearing.
