Paramount Chief Sahr Edward Mbawa the 3rd of Gbane Kandor Chiefdom in Kono District, has been officially appointed as Chairman Council Of Paramount Chiefs in Kono District.
His appointment was done on Saturday 9th December 2023 with approval of his fourteen (14) Paramount Chiefs including the newly appointed Chairman.
Speaking to AimNet News, the newly appointed Chairman Council of Paramount Chiefs Kono PC Sahr Edward Mbawa the 3rd of Gbane Kandor Chiefdom, disclosed that initially three of them PC Totor of Nimiyama Chiefdom and PC Abu Soloko of Toli Chiefdom including him aspired for the position but was emerged, Chairman. He added that his past track records and contributions to the Council of Paramount Chiefs and the district as a whole aided him in being appointed Chairman Council of Paramount Chiefs.
" For me, my position came from God, this is a position of all heads equal. I am not blessed more than my colleague Paramount Chiefs, or educated more than them", he said.
PC Mbawa maintained that he had served in the position of Vice Chairman Council of Paramount Chiefs for more than five years and that he had contributed greatly in the council. He said the minimum tenure of the chairman is five years and the maximum is ten years.
" I am only going serve for five years that is enough for me" PC Edward Mbawa maintained.
He disclosed that the PC position is a sacred position in which they should lead by example to their subjects to copy their leadership qualities.
He stressed that Paramount Chieftaincy is a traditional things and should be given utmost respect. He said his appointment among his colleagues had added value both in the district and the country by an extension. He admonished that fighting each other for a position would not salvage the problems and it would make the situation even worse in the district.
Speaking on his plans for the council, PC Eward Mbawa the 3rd of Gbane Kandor Chiefdom, assured all and sundry to work with his colleagues cooperatively and to uphold the values of the culture and traditions of the land for the peace and Development of Kono District. He applauded his colleagues for entrusting him with the sacred position and vowed to the best interest of the Council.
PC Mbawa called on all his colleague Paramount Chiefs to embrace peace and continue their good work for the Development of the district.
The outgoing Chairman of the Council of Paramount Chiefs Kono PC Emmanuel Tamba Torch Foyoh the IV of Soa Chiefdom, urged his colleagues to support the newly appointed Chairman and his executive for the Development of the council. He promised to give his maximum support to his former Deputy Chairman now the current Chairman of the Council of Paramount Chiefs.
Paramount Chiefs assured their usual cooperation to the newly appointed Chairman and his executives.
