As part of his continued efforts to ensure Football discipline becomes more attractive to stakeholders and Football fans in the district and out of the district, The Chairman of the Eastern Region Football Association, Prince Kai Saquee has on Sunday, 25th February 2024, officially handed over materials for the rehabilitation of Koidu Community Artificial Tuff Field to the Chairman Kono District Football Association (KDFA) and the rest of the District stakeholders worth million leones.
Speaking on the handing over ceremony, Eastern region Chairman Prince Kai Saquee maintained that the rehabilitation is part of the fulfillment of the promises he made to the people of Kono during elections to rehabilitate the Koidu Community Football Artificial Tuff Field situated at Gbense Chiefdom, Koidu City Kono District. It's one of the largest fields in the country, which can accommodate thousands of spectators.
According to him, the materials are in Koidu City, Kono District, for the kick start of the rehabilitation work in line with the FIFA standards and including the construction of the perimeter fence to aid in addressing illegal spectators who are in the habit of entering the field through jumping the fences.
" The project is directed to Kono through the leadership of the President Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), and more Developmental plans are coming for Kono District under their regime," he expressed.
Chairman Prince Kai Saquee assured that the contractors would soon commence the work. He called on all and sundry in Kono District to fully support the implementation of the Development of football discipline projects in the district.
The Chairman of the Kono District Football Association (KDFA), Abu Bakar Mansaray, expressed his heartfelt tribute to the leadership of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) for acknowledging Kono for such Development among the lot in the entire country.
He assured KDFA of the maximum monitoring Mechanism for successfully completing the projects under their leadership.
He stressed that after the completion of the rehabilitation of the Koidu Community Football Artificial Tuff Field, proper use of the field and also assured the Sierra Leone Football Association ( SLFA) that the intended purposes of the artificial Tuff field would be met.
Chairman KDFA Abubakar Mansaray called on the leadership of the Sierra Leone Football Association, including the Eastern Region Chairman, for their continuing support to the district.
The Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun City Council, Mayor Komba Matthew Sam, thanked SLFA through the Chairman Eastern Region Football Association for their intervention in ensuring the Football discipline in the district gained attention, and the field was friendly to the players and even the spectators.
Other stakeholders, including Football fans, expressed their appreciation to SLFA through the Chairman Eastern Region Football Association for good and assured their support for successfully completing the projects.
