KNSCC HANDS OVER NLE 900 MILLION TO CONSTRUCT CULVERTS

In a bid to alleviate the constraints of connective within the City of Koidu, His Worship the Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun City Council, Komba Matthew Sam, on 17 February 2024, officially handed over the nine hundred million Leones for the construction of five culverts and a feeder roads maintenance to contractors in Koidu City, with found from Road Maintenance Fund Administration (RAMFA).

The official handing over was done on Saturday, 17th February 2024. His Worship and Deputy Mayor, Councillors, civil works Engineer, Core staff of KNSCC, Local Authorities, Contractors, women, youth groups, and the media, among others.

Speaking on the merits of the projects, His Worship, Mayor Komba Matthew Sam, applauded the central government through the Road Maintenance Fund Administration (RAMFA) for such a milestone to alleviate the connective concerns of the people within the city of Koidu.

Speaking to the AimNet Newspaper,  the Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun City Council, Komba, Matthew Sam, disclosed that the  900 hundred million leones construction of 5 culverts and one Feeder Roads lot one-six respectively, were officially to five contraction companies, with support from Center Government through RMFA.

 "Anywhere schools and health centers are, it's the responsibility of the council to address the concerns of the people in the area of culverts and bridges for the people to have easy access work the facilities," he said.

He stressed that their donor Road Maintenance Fund Administration RAMFA pays attention to the roads linking schools and health centers to ensure connectivity in Koidu City.

 Mayor Komba Matthew Sam further stated that the five culverts and the feeder roads construction are in the interest of their primary aim, ensuring that they address the challenges the people face from their various communities within the city of Koidu.

He maintained that the bidding process aligned with Sierra's procurement policy. His worshiper, Komba Matthew Sam, disclosed plans for more culverts and bridge construction within Koidu City are underway.

The Deputy Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun City Council, Komba Sheku Kamara, urged the beneficiary Communities people to own the projects and to be more proactive in the monitoring of work and report anything negative that would impact the projects to the council through the channel of communication appropriately. He assured the people of the Council's continued support in addressing some of the burning challenges the people of Koidu municipality are facing.

" I assure you that Council will properly monitor the works for standards and long-serving culverts for its intended purposes," he said.

 The Deputy Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun City Council, Sheku Kamara, further expressed that the council has more culverts, bridge construction, and feeder roads maintenance work. Still, they cannot do it at a go, but he is optimistic that the council under their tenure would address the culverts and bridges challenges they face within the city of Koidu.

The Civil Works Engineer of Koidu New Sembehun City Council, Kenneth Lahai, noted that the projects are expected to last for a month. By the end of March 2024, the contractors should officially hand over the works for the public's use.

The Civil Works Engineer of Koidu New Sembehun City Council, Kenneth Lahai, reaffirmed that the Council would thoroughly monitor projects to ensure standard works are done. The five successful Contractors went through the procurement process and are confident that they will deliver as expected of them. He called on the contractors to fully cooperate with the council and the community for effective and efficient services.

The beneficiary Communities people applauded the Koidu New Sembehun City Council for such Developmental steps taken, and they assured their fullest support, ensuring the successful completion of the projects in their various Communities.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary Communities authorities,  Chief Alhaji Safea Doe thanked his worship the mayor for the laudable Developmental steps taken to ensure the address of their constraints in the trenches in their various Communities. He reiterated his commitment to support the Council's development agenda in the municipality.
