KNOW YOUR DEEN CHARITY FOUNDATION LAUNCHED

An Islamic entity, Know Your Deen Charity Foundation, was officially launched on Saturday, 6th January 2024, at New Jersey Hall, Mountain Cut in Freetown.

From hosting Islamic lectures in communities to providing food for Muslims in selected mosques and engaging Hook-Up Girls at Texaco, east of the city, the foundation has impacted the lives of thousands of women with improved knowledge of Islam and serving as change agents.

The objectives of the foundation are to unite Muslim sisters for the propagation of Islam through education and empowerment for progress, organize charity events, seminars, public lectures, and outreach for the progress and development of vulnerable communities, and liaise with other organizations, both national and international to help in the development of Islam.

According to the Founder, Mrs. Mariama Haladu Awalu, the organization intends to reach out to thousands of women, especially those living on the streets, with messages of hope and the necessary support to get them off the street.

She said the foundation has been organizing classes for its members and other women in communities to increase their knowledge about Islam, with women who have vast knowledge of Islam delivering lectures on various topics.

“We have come a long way, and with the help of Allah, we hope to do more for our women. I am very much grateful to my Co-Founder, Mrs. Mariatu Tejan Wurie-Kamara, for providing the necessary financial support,” she said.

She added that Mrs. Kamara has been very much instrumental since the organization’s inception, willing to support whatever project is brought forward by members.

In her short statement, Co-Founder Mrs. Mariatu Tejan Wurie-Kamara pledged her continued support to further the foundation. She called for unity, love, and togetherness among members. She urged well-meaning individuals and organizations to support the foundation’s work as they cannot achieve all their planned projects alone.

“The support I am rendering is for the progress of Islam and also to help the less privileged women in Sierra Leone. I am supporting the launch of the foundation with NLe 5,000 and encouraging others to support this worthy course,” she urged.

The keynote speaker, Mrs. Ramatu Wurie Bundu Kamara, said the foundation started from a humble beginning and, therefore, called on members to embrace the foundation’s mission of caring for the less privileged women in society.

She stated that the Co-Founder intends to open a nursing school for the less privileged in Sierra Leone.

Pledges and donations from guests and Islamic performances climaxed the launch of the Know Your Deen Charity Foundation.
