The Honorable member of parliament representing Pujehun District who also doubles as the Chief Whip of Sierra Leone’s Parliament Dickson Momoh Rogers, has showcased his commitment to public safety as he unveiled a newly constructed police station in Levuma town, situated in Sierra Leone's eastern region of Kenema District. The construction of the Police Station was single handedly funded by the Honourable Member of Parliament.
The inauguration event saw Honorable Dickson Rogers, presenting the building to the town chief. The esteemed Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Region, Andrew mustapha kamara received the station on behalf of the Inspector General of Police.
This state-of-the-art police station boasts a layout featuring seven office spaces and two detention cells, segregated for male and female detainees, emphasizing inclusivity and respect for human rights. Additionally, the facility includes a well-equipped three-bedroom apartment to facilitate accommodation for police personnel.
The handing over encompassed a comprehensive set of office equipment, stationeries, and a brand-new motorbike, enhancing the operational capacity of the law enforcement team stationed at Levuma town.
During the ceremony, Honorable Dickson Rogers emphasized the critical role of the police station in bolstering security measures, fostering community trust, and ensuring swift and efficient law enforcement responses within the region.
"It's a privilege to construct and inaugurate this police station, a symbol of my commitment to support his excellency President Bio in ensuring community safety. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between law enforcement agencies and the people they serve. Through collaborative efforts, we aspire to create an environment where every citizen feels secure and can rely on efficient law enforcement. I hope this facility stands as a beacon of trust and protection for the people of Levuma Toen and the entire Kenema District by extension. He ended.
On his part the Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Region, Andrew Mustapha Kamara said the establishment of the modern police station stands as a testament to the dedication of Honorable Dickson Momoh Rogers towards promoting safety, justice, and law enforcement effectiveness in Kenema District. He added that the event signified a significant stride towards enhancing public security and reinforcing the collaborative efforts between government authorities and local communities in Sierra Leone.
"We are immensely grateful for this remarkable contribution from Honorable Dickson Momoh Rogers towards law enforcement in the Eastern Region. The provision of this well-equipped police station in Levuma town underscores the crucial partnership between the government and local stakeholders. This facility will significantly bolster our efforts to maintain peace, ensure safety, and uphold the rule of law within the community." Commissioner Andrew Mustapher stated.
It’s also noted that Levuma town, where the newly constructed police station stands, holds a special significance for Honorable Dickson Momoh Rogers as his ancestral homeland. Demonstrating a profound commitment to the welfare of his community, earlier this year, the honorable member of parliament generously donated to various essential institutions within Levuma and beyond. His contributions extended to supporting local radio stations, hospitals, religious houses, and numerous other entities pivotal to the fabric of the community.
