By Mohamed Massaquoi PMSLUN

On day two of the 68th  session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Sierra Leone's Minister of Gender and Children's Affairs, Dr. Isata Mahoi, presented President Julius Maada Bio's priority agenda to the international community. She highlighted the government's focus on the "Big Five Game Changers," which includes agricultural productivity, human capital development, youth employment, technology advancement, and public service transformation.

Dr. Mahoi emphasized that mainstreaming gender is a critical enabler to achieving these priorities, particularly in the agricultural sector, where women play a vital role in food production. She called on development partners to support the government's efforts to implement policies and strategies to end poverty and promote gender equality.

The Minister also shared several policy developments and initiatives, including the adoption of the Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment Policy 2020, the passage of the Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment Bill 2022, and the establishment of a Women's Empowerment Fund.
