The people of Gbogama Village in Mafindor Section, Mafindor Chiefdom, Kono District Eastern Region of the Republic of Sierra Leone, have raised concerns about the community's lack of safe drinking water facilities and other social amenities.
According to Chief Tamba Komba, the Town Chief of Gbogama Village in Mafindor Section, Mafindor Chiefdom, Kono District, the town lacks a safe drinking water facility and other social facilities.
He maintained that the townspeople are currently fetching water from the nearby bushes, which are hazardous to their health. He stated that the community had recorded several sick cases because of the only alternative water source. He said that the absence of safe drinking water facilities in the community has become worrisome to the people, particularly the women and children.
Chief Tamba Komba of Gbogama Village in Mafindor Section, Mafindor Chiefdom Kono District, further stated that the Community people had to walk several miles to fetch drinking water in the nearby bushes at the streams, which is difficult for them.
" Our situation is challenging. The absence of safe drinking in the community is seriously constraining, especially during this drying season," he said.
Chief Tamba Komba disclosed that the people of Gbogama Village find accessing a safe drinking water facility challenging.
" Let me tell you, life is not good for us without safe drinking water. Sometimes, our children cannot go to school due to the far distances they cover to fetch water for their family's use. We are pleading to the government and partners to aid us," he pointed out.
He explained that the community people had tried their efforts by having some hand-dug wholes in the bushes to address the water crises in the community but all efforts have proven fruitful.
" We even share the water with our animals in the stream in our nearby bushes, which are prone to health hazards," he disclosed.
Chief Tamba Komba of Gbogama Village in Mafindor Chiefdom, Kono District, maintained that over a hundred community inhabitants and agriculture activities are their livelihood. He disclosed that Gbogama town in Mafindor Chiefdom, Kono District, is 48 miles off Koidu City.
He added that the community lacked a good road network and other social facilities. He described the town as one of the deprived Communities in Kono District.
He called on the Government, through the district Council and Development partners, to help them overcome their barriers and address their Social facilities.
