Abubakar Jah, Abdulraham Mansallay, Arthur Matturi and Finnah Hawanatu Marrah, yesterday made another appearance before the Magistrate Mark Ngegba of court No1 as they were alleged of obtaining money from the complainant by falsely pretending that they would double the money twice knowing same to be false.
The accused were arraigned before the court on five count charges ranging from conspiracy to defraud, obtaining money by false pretenses and causing money to be paid to another with intent to defraud all contrary to law.
The charge sheet indicated that the accused on Wednesday 4 October 2023, at King Harman road in Freetown, conspired together to defraud Iye Mansaray five thousand dollars equivalent to one hundred and eighty-two thousand, five hundred new Leones by falsely pretending that he would multiply twice the money by using his money doubling machine knowing same to be false.
Shortly after the matter was mentioned by the court clerk, the prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Lahai Farma indicated that the witnesses were absent in court but said they would be in court on the next adjourned date. The accused are on bail and the matter was adjourned to 19th December 2023 for continuation.
