FBC TO RESTRICT PROMOTION OF FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS WITH REFERENCE MODULE

By Morlai Sesay

Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, has unveiled significant changes to its Progression Criteria, impacting new students beginning the academic year 2024.

According to the statement dated January 16, 2024, and signed by Deputy Registrar Brima Bah, the university has implemented a policy stating that there will be no repeating in Year 1, and students will not be allowed to progress to Year 2 with any reference.

The announcement emphasizes the regulations the Deputy Vice-Chancellor set forth during the Orientation, and Deputy Registrar Brima Bah aims to reiterate these crucial details to all incoming students.

Moreover, the release highlights that students encountering referrals in more than two modules will have the opportunity to undertake re-sit examinations. Those who successfully clear the referred modules will proceed to Year 2.

However, failing to pass the referred modules will result in the student withdrawing from the course and the college. The university is keen on ensuring adherence to these new progression criteria to maintain academic standards and uphold the integrity of the educational system at Fourah Bay College.
