The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone has, in a public notice dated Thursday, January 25th,2024, frowned at misleading information in a local Tabloid (Night Watch) purporting the commission's readiness to cooperate with election investigators.
The article, according to the correspondence, stated that the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) had shown readiness to cooperate with election investigators and further contradicted itself in another paragraph that ECSL had not been cooperating with the Election Investigators Committee (EIC) as its official refused to appear before the investigation frowning at an election audit".
With the foregoing misleading information about ECSL, the commission hereby updated the public that it has not received any invitation to attend Election Investigation Committee meetings and is not privy to any discussion or outcome of such meetings.
"It is, therefore, very misleading and unprofessional for Night Watch newspaper to publish misinformation on a susceptible topic to discredit the institution’s image. The Commission, therefore, expects Night Watch newspaper to retract the said article immediately.
