DRIVER ON REMAND FOR MURDER

Einoh Sesay, a driver, was on Tuesday, 13 February 2024, sent to prison by  Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No 2 for allegedly killing Alpha Kabbay Rogers while driving.

The accused made his first appearance and was arraigned on two counts of manslaughter contrary to law and careless and inconsiderate driving contrary to section 101 of the Road Traffic Act No.5 of 2007.

The charge sheet indicated that the accused, on Saturday, 27 January 2024, along Signal Hill Road in Freetown, being the driver in control of a Renault vehicle with registration number AKS 531, did unlawfully kill Alpha Kabbay Rogers.

The police further alleged that the accused, on the same day, drove in a careless and inconsiderate manner with respect to the AVO 841 Hilux motorbike.

After the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

The prosecutor, ASP Isatu Baba Musa, sought an adjournment because the witnesses were absent and could not proceed.

Magistrate Santigie Bangura, however, remanded the accused in prison, and the matter adjourned to 20th February 2024 for the prosecution to open their case
