Fatmata Marrah a 25-year-old unemployed woman was on Thursday 14th December 2023, arraigned before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No1 for allegedly stealing from the Rokel Commercial Bank Sim Korpor over four hundred thousand new Leones.
The accused made her first appearance in court and was arraigned on two counts charges of Conspiracy to defraud contrary to law and larceny contrary to section 2 of the larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offense for count one, the accused on diverse dates between 2nd September 2023 and 10th August 2023, in Freetown with intent to defraud the Rokel Commercial Bank Sim Korpor the sum of (NLe 419, 000) from account number 1807618185701 at Rokel Commercial Bank Sim Korpor account meant for the daily sim Korpor financial transaction.
It was further alleged that the accused on the 12th May 2023, in Freetown, did steal the total sum of NLE 225,900 from the Rokel Commercial Bank Sim Korpor account meant for the daily Sim Korpor financial transaction.
When the charges were read to her, no plea was taken. Magistrate Ngegba however granted her bail in the sum of 400 thousand new Leones and two sureties in like sum, adding one of them must produce a title deed that would be lodged with the court and the bail to be approved by the Master and Registrar. The matter was adjourned to the 5th of January 2024
