CHERNOR BAH CLINCHES BEST BOWLER TITLE AT ACA MEN’S T20 CONTINENTAL CUP QUALIFIER

By Morlai Sesay

Sierra Leonean cricketer, Chernor Bah emerged victorious as the best bowler in the recently concluded ACA Men’s T20 Continental Cup qualifier held in South Africa.

Bah, a dedicated police officer, began his international cricketing journey in 2016 during the U-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Benoni, South Africa. Joining the Senior Men’s Patriots in 2021, he had the opportunity to participate in the Nigeria Bilateral Series and the ICC World Cup Qualifier Division 2 Sub-regional Qualifier in Kigali, Rwanda, both held in the same year.

In the ACA Cup of 2023, two other outstanding Sierra Leonean players, Alusine Turay and George Sesay, earned spots in the ACA team of the tournament. George Sesay, who plays for Special CC in club cricket, achieved a remarkable tournament hat-trick among tough continental competitors. Alusine Turay secured the fourth position in the runs-scoring chart, posting an impressive 78 off 72 balls.

As a result of these exceptional performances, Sierra Leone has ascended two places in the ICC World rankings, now holding the 67th position compared to its previous 69th spot.

The Senior Men’s Patriots of Sierra Leone are set to return home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, after leaving an indelible mark on the ACA T20 Men’s Cup Finals in Benoni, showcasing stellar achievements in bowling and wicket-taking that have contributed to their continental records.
