By Bo SLP Media Team

On Monday, 22nd January 2024, the Sierra Leone Police search team led by Detective Police Constable 18286 Patrick Mohamed Ngobeh deployed at the Fallah Gazetted Police Checkpoint Bo Taiama highway, arrested Alhaji Lamin Bangura and Sidikie Kargbo, who were found in possession of one hundred and twenty (120) counterfeit $100 following a rip-off.

The suspects, Alhaji Lamin Bangura and Sidikie Kargbo, were apprehended during a routine police check. Upon searching their luggage while moving from the Freetown direction, the head of the search team D/PC: 18286 Ngobeh P.M. discovered a significant amount of counterfeit currency, specifically fake $100. The counterfeit were of high quality and closely resembled genuine currency, making it difficult to detect them at first glance.

The arresting officers believed that the two (2) men were part of a larger counterfeit money operation. The Regional Criminal Investigation Department South is currently investigating to determine the extent of their involvement and to identify any potential accomplices.

What degenerated the imagination of the Regional Support Officer Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr. Patrick Lahai Dumbuya, was that counterfeit money seriously threatens the economy and could harm businesses and individuals who unknowingly accept the fake currency. The leadership of the Regional Police Commander South AIG Brima Kanneh urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or counterfeit money they come across. The two suspects are currently in police custody, helping with the investigation.
