At CSW 68th... INFORMATION MINISTER CALLS FOR CONCRETE ACTION TO PROMOTE WOMEN, PEACE & SECURITY

At the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), Sierra Leone's Minister of Information and Civic Education, Hon. Chernor Bah, highlighted the importance of integrating Women's Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action in the Summit of the Future Agenda.

Speaking on behalf of the Sierra Leonean government,  Minister Bah emphasized that women's participation in peacebuilding and conflict resolution is crucial for sustainable peace and security.

He also stressed the need for inclusive humanitarian action that addresses the specific needs and concerns of women and girls.

The Minister called for concrete commitments that would enable us to do things differently, following the example of Sierra Leone’s minimum 30% gender quota and the African Union's commitment to a minimum quota of 30 percent for women in AU-led peace negotiations.

The CSW 68th session is focused on "Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective.
